Jaachinma Duru

(b. 1998, Lagos, Nigeria)
Duru’s practice centers on figurative painting that subtly drifts toward the surreal, exploring memory, belonging, and the emotional landscapes of diaspora.
Working primarily in oils and acrylics, following a decade-long hiatus – Duru reflects on themes of displacement, connection and distance. Her work captures the feeling of missing a home never fully inhabited, and the quiet dissonance of existing between worlds. She seeks to reconcile fading memories with lived experience while reconnecting with imagination and artistic instinct.Duru has begun exhibiting and selling her work across London, with works featured in independent Shoreditch brand Oneironaut. Group exhibitions include NICOLA Arts: No Limits Gallery, Of Nazareth Gallery, and the Hogan Lovells Black History Month Gala 2025.
